YFC IS

an international movement with over 130 chapters across the country and serving in over 100 nations world wide. No matter where we serve, we are pursuing 11-19 year olds who often feel overlooked. We work to build relationships at pivotal moments in their life. We believe that the Gospel comes to life in the overlap of God’s story, our story, and a young person’s story.

YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ, and commitment to social involvement.

Our History

​

Youth For Christ (YFC) became a national non-profit organization in 1944 with the mission of youth evangelism. Billy Graham was the first employee. YFC has 160 chapters nationwide with 11 ministry programs.

 

Heartland YFC has been serving youth in Linn County since 1962. Heartland Youth For Christ seeks community transformation through holistic and relational outreach to young people, ages 11-19, across Benton County, Clayton County, Delaware County, Dubuque County, and Linn County.

Working together with the local church and volunteers, we:

 

  • Equip young people with skills to live a Christ-centered life.

  • Engage young people in Christ-sharing relationships.

  • Empower young people to share the love of Jesus with others.

What is the
Gospel?

1) God is holy, 2) we are hopeless sinners, 3) Christ died and rose again for sinners, and 4) this great salvation is enjoyed by faith in Christ-but believing the gospel is also to treasure Jesus Christ as your unsearchable riches. What makes the gospel Gospel is that it brings a person into the everlasting and ever-increasing joy of Jesus Christ.

What is the
YFC Statement of Faith?

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.
